Hi Folks, I hope everyone is planning on attending the Chili Wiener Ride/potluck tomorrow, 11/17 at 10 am at the Oberlin Depot. The rides will start around 10 and we will plan on eating around 11:45 or so.

The weather forecast is for chilly temps and chance of rain.

We may move up the dining time to 11 or so if there are no or few riders. Hope this helps a bit for those not riding and planning on arriving later to join us for the chili extravaganza.

Hi Silverwheelers

The sunshine and warm weather are going away and so is the riding season, dang!    We mark this end of the riding year by throwing a party. If you’re new to SW, here’s how it rolls out.
On November 17 we will have a get together at the Oberlin depot. The depot will open at 10 for food drop off. SW will supply the hot dogs and buns ( thank you Cheryl Burkhardt for your generous donation) as well as condiments. Members will bring a dish to share. Yep, you get to try out that new recipe on a herd of willing volunteers. You can email

Pat Serio:  midwife@oberlin.net

with your choice of side or dessert so we don’t all end up bringing a pot of beans. Can’t cook?  Come anyway. Bring a jug of cider or some pop or tea.

Please be thoughtful and bring your own reusable place setting:  a plate, fork, knife, spoon, bowl and cup so we don’t contribute even more plastic to the landfill. If you forget we will have some in hand.

There will be a star chase ride for 2-4* riders led by Pat Serio, Norm Diederich and Greg Orlowski as well as a 1* ride led by Cheryl Burkhardt.
This means that we all follow the same route (about 20 miles) but we all end up at the depot about the same time for the food. It is all about eating, isn’t it?  This means that if you usually ride at a 2* pace but want an end of the season challenge, you can go out with the 3* group and when you poop out the 2* group will be coming along shortly to ride back with. At least that’s the theory.  In truth they’ll just laugh at you.
Greg Orlowski is making the route. And he also volunteered to bring vegan chili and cornbread. I will bring chili and cornbread too (not vegan). If anyone wants to jump in too we can have a contest and I will donate a gift certificate to Swerve. You can vote at the depot after you’ve sampled the offerings.
If you’re too much of a wiener to ride because it’s too chili to ride your bike that day you can still come and party anyway. It’s all about having fun.

Questions?  Ask Pat Serio or Greg Orlowski.
