SAFE CYCLING CLASS

Taught by Larry Best, LCI certified instructor
Saturday, June 26th 9:00 A.M.
Sunday, June 27th (rain date)
The class will include about 50% classroom instruction,
(246 Warren Ave., Elyria), and 50% riding. The ride will be
10 miles maximum at about 10-12 mph. Plan on spending
from 9:30 to 2 or 3:00 pm. including a break for lunch. The
class will be both fun and informative.
The classroom part will include how to ride on roads, how
to handle intersections, dealing with drivers, safe place-
ment on the road, riding in a group, how to treat pedes-
trians, and more.
The riding part includes bike handling i.e., swerving, emer-
gency stop, riding in a straight line, checking behind you,
etc. There will also be an on the road part of probably less
than 10 miles at a low speed to put into practice what you
have learned.
There is a maximum of 6 students in the class.
You’ll need to bring your bike, a helmet, and the clothes
you usually wear when riding.
Registration is first come, first served. You must register
via email. No phone/ in-person registers will be accepted.
The fee for the class is $30.00, payable at the start of
class.
About the teacher: Larry Best is a retired high school
teacher who has 56 years & about 150,000 miles of cycling
experience. He is a former racer, club rider, has done long
distance tours, and has worked as a mechanic in cycle
shops. He is also a League of American Bicyclists
Cycling Instructor, & a long-time member of Silver
Wheels Cycling Club.
