Silver Wheels Cycling Club, Inc.

Bicycling For Recreation, Fitness, Fun, Learning and Advocacy

Meetings, Newsgroup, Newsletter,

Silver Wheels Membership meetings are held the 3rd Thursday on the following months: March, May, July, September, and November at Carlisle Visitor Center (Diagonal Road in LaGrange) beginning at 7:00 pm.

Silver Wheels Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm at Carlisle Visitor Center. All Silver Wheels members are always welcome to attend the board meetings.

An annual banquet is held at which we recognize notable accomplishments of members and announce major plans for the next season. It is one of the few times we see each other not wearing bike clothes.

Silver Wheels Newsgroup

Silver Wheels Cycling Club uses a newsgroup, or list server process for maintaining frequent communication among members of the club. The way this works is that whenever a member needs to communicate with the club as a whole, this can be done by sending an email to the newsgroup at:

All subscribers will receive the message.  Members and non-members can subscribe to the newsgroup and receive club emails, but only members are able to post.

A newsgroup depends on a certain amount of email etiquette in order for it to be effective. Some of the general guidelines for its use are as follows:

1. The main purpose is for sending a message to the entire group - not for a discussion among a few     members. Club business, cycling related posts, and ride cancellations/details should be sent.

2. This is a send-only newsgroup. Replies to newsgroup messages can not be sent.

3. Persons abusing the newsgroup may be removed from the list.

Rollin' Newsletter

Silver Wheels publishes a periodic newsletter, Rollin', for its club members. The newsletter provides club news, equipment tips, riding techniques, special ride information, tour descriptions and much more. It is informative and interesting reading material that is one of the club's many services available at no charge.

We are always interested in stories to be published for members. Send your photos and articles to the newsletter editor, Steve Osmialoski.
